One of the best games on Wii
de Blob is a fantastic original game with beautiful graphics, a cool jazzy soundtrack, and lots of fun challenges to keep you occupied. The presentation is top notch as the developer obviously put a lot of thought, energy, and humor into the creation of this game. There’s a range of difficulty to the challenges and goals so there’s really something to appeal to different types of gamers. More casual gamers can just roll Blob around and color buildings while hardcore gamers can go for 100% completion and try to complete tougher and tougher challenges with time limits. Whatever your desired challenge level, you’re bound to have a great time playing this game.

The graphics are crisp, clean, and most of all, colorful. The game runs in full 480p widescreen for those that have an HDTV and have invested in the Wii’s component video cable for the proper connection. de Blob’s graphics are a big part of its unique style and fun factor.

I can’t give the jazzy soundtrack enough praise. It provides a great atmosphere that compliments the graphical style perfectly. Also, it’s more dynamic than just being a set list of songs that you hear as you are playing through the various levels. First of all, you can select different moods for Blob, which affects the soundtrack for each level. Even more impressive is the fact that different instruments are added into the mix depending on the current color of Blob and how much of the level you’ve colored.

While de Blob has a couple of different multiplayer modes, I haven’t tried them out yet, but I’ve heard pretty good things about them from game review websites.

I’d strongly recommend de Blob to anyone who wants a fresh, fun, and original gaming experience on Wii.

Support Good Games…
DeBlob is a game that has always LOOKED great. Through screenshots and early gameplay footage, it’s always looked like a very promising title. Even the box art LOOKS great, but with the power of current gen consoles, a lot of games can look great, and play horribly. DeBlob thankfully lives up to its style and graphical prowess. The game is just as fun as it looks like it would be.

You play the part of a paint ball, jumping around a gray world, painting the town red (or green, yellow, orange, etc.) Meanwhile the evil ‘Inkies’ are dead set on keeping things dull and rubbing you out. The people of a the world are depressed and oppressed, and it’s up to you and an underground group of rebels to set them free.

The game is just FUN. It’s great fun jumping from building to building slopping paint around everywhere you go. Even on the load screen, you can point the wiimote at the screen and doodle while you’re waiting. The game just oozes with personality. It’s got the dry sense of humor of the Rabbids games, or early Lucasarts titles. There are lots of challenges set up along the way (ie. paint 50 buildings yellow in 60 seconds, etc.) to keep things interesting, or you can just explore and try to paint all the tree, buildings or townsfolk before the (generous) timer runs out.

My only knock is the lack of a jump button. It’s something many players have mentioned. You jump by flicking the wiimote down, and while it works, its just not as accurate as a button press. The controls are very responsive however and this is only a slight setback.

DeBlob is easy enough for children, and at the same time offers enough extra challenges for any level of gamer, and is an all around great family game. It’s a clear ‘must own’ title for the Wii and one that should not be overlooked. I hope gamers will choose to support DeBlob so publishers will take more risks with titles like this! No more shovelware!

Nice to see some innovation and fun!
With so much shovelware on the Wii, such a unique and fun game is a great surprise.

CONCEPT: The concept is simple, paint everything.

GRAPHICS: The graphics like all Wii games are last generation but well done and very suitable for what it is. It could benefit from more colors and patterns.

MUSIC: The music is kind of a jazzy funky mix and very well done.

CONTROLS: I’ve never really loved the innovative Wii controllers. Give me an Xbox 360 or PS3 controller any day. However, the Wii controller is very simple and easy to use.

It’s all tied together with a cute story, and it received good to great reviews in the game magazines.

I noticed Best Buy sells it with a free T-shirt. Circuit City has a free game soundtrack CD included. Target has a mini-comic book included. I don’t think Amazon is including any extras. I purchased from Circuit City for the music CD. I’m not sure how long the free items will be available.

The game is appropriate for younger players, starting about 5 years old and up, depending on how much you help. The game is interesting and challenging enough that players of ANY age would enjoy it.

I often try to play new games over so many weeks and resell them while they still have good resell value, but so far, this game seems to be a keeper.

Highly recommended! If you need a number, I’d say 8.5 out of 10.

Great concept
De Blob is a great concept for a video game. The gameplay is simple and straightforward, but challenging enough for any age. Although comparable to another cult fave, Katamari Damacy, this game has a little bit more of a puzzle element to it, although nothing too taxing. This is one of the best third-party games for the Wii to date.

Love It
Galaxy was getting too hard so I needed a new game. This game is perfect!! I just got it last night, so I haven’t gotten too far into it, but so far I love it. Its good for any age depending on how high of a score you are looking to get. The only problem I have is that you jump and “pound” differently that Galaxy so that will take some time to get used too.

Boom Blox Review

Fun for kids and the entire family, BOOM BLOX offers action-packed interactive activities that takes Wii play to a new level of creativity and fun with single player, co-op, and versus gameplay. Players can explore the visceral gameplay that keeps them destroying their way through brain-twisting challenges. They can interact with entertaining characters such as the Blox-laying chickens or the baseball-throwing monkeys, who bring personality to the Tiki, Medieval, Frontier, and Haunted themed environments. Additionally, players can remix any level of the game in Create Mode using props, blocks, or characters that have been unlocked during the game. Players can also virtually build anything they can dream up. Plus, their designs can then be shared with friends or used to challenge others to solve their newly created puzzle via WiiConnect24.

Boom Blox is great for families!
When I first got this game, I was somewhat disappointed because it wasn’t that fun. As I gave it more time, I discovered that there are many more facets of the game that are missed at first glance.

For me, I am particular towards the multiplayer aspects of Boom Blox. That is, I wanted to play this game with my friends/family - and preferred everyone participating together than sitting around taking turns. Thus, although Boom Blox supports a handful of 4 player games, I was disappointed when many of them only worked while taking turns. Furthermore, the shooting games where everyone could play simultaneously were even more disappointing because the game frame lags a lot with all the blocks bursting into [unnecessary] effects. However, as I found later, you can “edit” any level (or create your own) which allows you to speed up the game while taking turns (by reducing the timer to, for example, 5 seconds a turn) and change the weapons used to switch up the gameplay. This helped fix the earlier disappointment in which I found people got antsy as people really took their time (read: 40 seconds) planning their moves.

Although the 4 player mode was somewhat lackluster, the 2 player mode was really great. Granted, it makes for less of a party game when only two people can participate - but many of the games are simultaneous and makes for exciting gameplay. There is both a cooperative and competitive route for the 2 player mode - both which are exciting in their own way. The cooperative games require, surprise, cooperation - but often, the task is rather challenging and thus, requires the players to really work together or face the “Try Again” screen. The competitive games were simply games in which you and your buddy fought against each other, usually to destroy a building or score the most points. Either way, the two player modes are really worth the multiplayer aspect of the game.

Lastly, the single player mode will really test your skills. There are many tasks that you are expected to complete - often using only a single baseball or while protecting several innocent kittens from a Halloween army (your arm will tire). I found that revisiting a game after a week or two allowed you to overcome the challenge of getting gold on every task - an extra that grants you very powerful weapons. Again, you can edit any level just to play around with different weapons, blocks, decoration, characters, etc.

To cut this short, Boom Blox is really worth the purchase. Younger kids can delight in the “boom” of everything falling off, while older players can aim to score higher points and complete the challenges that may be too hard for the young (there are many). I hope that you enjoy the game as much as I will continue to - and have a great day!

Fun for everyone
This bar-none is the best multi-player game on the Wii. I play it whenever I have a little time to spare. There are so many options and challenges to keep you playing for hours on end. It is also good for all ages. My 5 year old Nephew loves to play this game with me whenever he comes over. I like the challenge and he likes making all of the blox fall over.

Very good regardless of some flaws
Boom Blox has a ton of play in it as you work diverse and sometimes very difficult. Most of the puzzles are fun and provide great replay value as you try to attain gold medals at some pretty tricky puzzles. I really like the diverse nature of the puzzles but some of the mindless shoot em up levels can be tedious and frustrating, relying on luck over skill. The timed levels can also be nearly impossible to pass. Regardless , with 400 levels, cooperative and head-to-head play you can find weeks of fun in this one, even if you can’t complete the entire game. If they have a sequel that addresses the shortcomings, I’ll be a buyer. Meanwhile I’ll try to improve on my current 55% completion. Almost great

GREAT GAME for 7-12 and parents too!
My son age 11 and I love playing this game and it is great for boys that like to destroy and throw things! Who doesn’t love to do that? I love the animals in it and the many different puzzles and the fact that you can change camera angles to pick out your block. I wouldn’t recommend for younger than 7 because I think it would be too difficult to do much besides throw a few blocks, but I am no expert! I love everything about this game!

Simple shooting game - Loads of fun
Other reviews give this game negative comments but we love it. We’re not big gamers so we just wanted something simple to play that friends can play instantly when they come over. We tried the Looney Tunes shooting game, mistakenly assuming that would be simple but there were 2 remotes, 4 buttons, button combos, the joystick plus you could shake the remotes. It was too much. We just wanted something fun and easy. Ghost squad is that. All of our friends have also liked it (40ish women).

Good replay.. Many alternate scenarios!
I really have enjoyed this game. Usually an on rails shooter like this does not have much replay, But Sega did a great job of giving you plenty of reasons to keep revisiting the missions. Branching missions, improve your rank and times etc. Which causes the game to change the scenarios each time you play through it. Cool little things. Example: one time you may go through a room that is lit normally but next time you’ll use smoke screen and have to used night vision to see through the smoke. Another time the enemies may mix it up and attack in different ways. Also you acquire many different types of weapons that will change the strategies you’ll need to use. I also like that you can get in and out of this game for a quick bit of play when you don’t have allot of time but ya need some action. It’s great game for 2 players. You can set the options individually for each player to compensate for a younger or inexperienced player. I found I prefer the Nyko Perfect Shot to the Nintendo Zapper with this game.. It’s just easier to aim with it. You can play with just the Wii Remote if you chose but it kinda diminishes the fun factor.

Way too short
This game is rally fun for untill you beat the three levels in the game! They have basicly the same three levels but change it to nighttime instead of day to pass as another level. I’m talking the same enemies in the same places, same mission. In Japan this game comes with the zapper so it is meant to be a quick short cheap game, but th en they sold it sepratly in the US as a full priced game. Unless you like to waste money, do not get this game.

Wii Ghost Squad
It’s a fun game when you first start to play but with only three missions it starts to be the same thing over and over. Good shooter game, wii needs more of those but I think so far this is one of the better ones, wish it had more different types of levels

Worth the money
Golf and bowling are especially fun. None of the games are particularly realistic but the wife and I spend hours with this. Bowling is probably the closest to the real McCoy. Keep the Wii level when you start out and you’ll quickly figure out how to give it a little twist for curves. In golf, don’t bother swinging like a real club. Instead, use the gauge on the left to practice the strength level you need for each shot and just use your wrist when actually shooting. I found tennis to be a hit or miss affair. It’s fun in its own way but I’ve yet to really get the hang of swinging the racket. Boxing seems like simply an exercise in punching till the opponent is ko’d. A lot of exercise but the controls don’t otherwise seem to give the control needed for uppercuts, hooks, jabs, etc. Baseball is a three-inning affair and thank goodness. Getting a hit seems more like luck than anything.

Showcasing The Wii
Traditionally, Nintendo has launched its new video game consoles with software titles revolving around Mario, Luigi, Zelda, Donkey Kong, or other big-name company characters. With the revolutionary Wii console, however, Nintendo instead chose to showcase the movement-based action of the system by packaging the console with Wii Sports. The game consists of five sports that players can try out:

Baseball: Quite fun, and the difficulty level goes up as you improve, making for engaging hours of gameplay.

Bowling: Much like the real sport, Wii bowling can be parts incredibly fulfilling and incredibly maddening, as one millimeter of wrist turn will register with the system and change your roll.

Tennis: Not being a big tennis fan, I play this game the least, but my brother has had hours of fun with it.

Golf: Once you learn the mechanics of the swing mechanism, this could become the most addictive part of the game for you, as (like real golf) it looks so simple until you try it!

Boxing: This one really gets you moving, as you duck, dodge, jab, and strike at your virtual opponent with the Wii controller and Wii nunchuck.

There is also a Wii Fitness Test mode that, while not at all indicative of your physical fitness level as it claims to be, does give you a good indication of how you stack up to your friends.

Overall, Wii Sports is a fun, engaging little game that will bring out the competitive juices in all gamers, whether you are a young child or senior citizen.

Exactly what Ive been dreaming of
Im an indoor person and out of shape and overweight. Id love to be the kind of person who was fit and into sports but Im awkward and it hurts to get involved in anything. Not anymore!! I can have all the fun at sports in my own home! I love how the games are easy but challenging at the same time. I love the animation of the games. I love that I can wear what I want and get sweaty in my living room with nobody around and play for an hour at my own pace! My TV is no longer watched by me or my 3 kids. I got this game with Wii Fit and its the best money I have ever spent at one time! I highly recommend this product! If you get it, take it easy the first few days.. you wont be sore playing for hours the first day you get it but you wont be able to move your body for the next few days after if you overdo. It really is an excellent workout! And awesome fun too!
