Fun, good game, price a little high
Fun game. I give it a solid 4.5. Several people talk about how good the game is…Amazing! I like hunting and action games alot, and this definately seems like one of the better ones. Don’t rent it, buy it. The only thing on the down side is the price. It was $18.05 a earlier today, so I left it in the basket. A half hour later I came back to proceed to the checkout and it had increased to $29.99. I seriously can’t believe my luck today. Cabela has release a new game called “Cabela’s Buck Tropheys,” and has another one on the way! How can they charge $30 for the game when a new one has been released and another is in the making? You might as well shoot the bucks instead of spending them! If the price drops to $19.99, don’t hesitate, buy it. Over all, pretty good game. If the price drops, I will buy it first thing tommorow. I recommend it to all gamers who like hunting, action, and outdoor games. And it definately stands by its ESRB rating. Now, go and get yourself a copy before everyone starts calling Costco expensive.

Fun for a little while
You’re gonna dig this game for a few weeks, but it gets old shortly. Only so much you can do with hunting hooven animals. Does get fun in the higher modes when you get attacked, but otherwise not much challenge.

Not what we expected!
We were hoping you can just pick the location you want to hunt in, but you can’t. Also you can hunt just any animal. You have to hunt what the came wants you to hunt, and if you kill a different animal you get warned. We are not to impressed with the game.

Wii Big Game Hunter
This was a gift for my adult son, who is an avid, experienced hunter. He breezed through it; didn’t think it was difficult enough. It was a “deal” when I purchased it, so I don’t know if the “teen” rating was visible or not - if I had seen it, I wouldn’t have purchased the game.

Big Brain Academy Wii Degree Review

Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree tests your brains with fun problems for any age or level of education. Play against up to 8 people with 15 new activities — memory, analysis, number crunching, visual recognition and quick thinking. The Wii Remote controller’s hands-on control makes playing a cinch. A really good brain workout
Challenging and fun at the same time. Great for all ages so the whole family can play. My daughter and I enjoyed it so much we couldn’t stop playing. The graphics and visuals are generic enough so this game won’t become outdated in a year or two. We highly recommend it to families looking for good, clean, mentally stimulating entertainment.

back to school!
Summer’s ending, kids long ago gave up on doing workbooks & writing in their journals. What to do to get their brains in gear before schools starts up? I ask myself.

Enter Brain Academy. Right now there are 4 kids aged 6-9 whooping it up on my Wii, doing some simple math & visual tasks - 2 of them have “bigger brains” than me, lol!

Fun, good for a rainy day especially, and IMO much better use of time than many other “games” out there.

Good Family activity
I’ve had this game for a couple of weeks. It’s not quite what I expected but it’s challenging and fun. The setup and data stuff is a bit tedious, IMHO. Also I don’t like all the screen narrative after the game is over, but I don’t like it on other WII games either.

This is a good family game and will be fun for kidergarteners and up. Within a family setting, even the high schoolers will have fun.

Pleasantly surprised…
I should say up front that I’m not a very avid video game player or afficianado. I really like this game because of the variety. You really do have a lot to choose from with minimal stuff to read beforehand. This is another good family game.

Felt like i was ripped off just like a real carnival!
Really did not like this game. Maybe okay for 5 and under, but the games have preset number of turns and are just a waste of time. Get the Wii Party Games, cheaper and more fun!!!!!!!!!! Some of the games are difficult to figure out how to play. Prizes are as trashy as the real thing. Really felt like I was at the carnival getting ripped off on rigged games… SO in hind site, if you are trying to practice to actually win rigged games at the carnivals…this will give you some practice :)

We like it!
We bought this for the family (Mom, Dad, 10 year old and 7 year old). We brought it home and set it to play mulitplayer with shared remote (because we only have two). That was a mistake. To play skee ball (”alley ball”) you get 6 balls. Well in this mode, you throw one ball. The next player gets the remote and rolls one ball. The next person gets the remote and rolls one ball. By the time all 4 of you roll your six balls, the kids are restless, and I’m half asleep. I thought we wasted our money.

The next day I played in single player mode, and that was a lot of fun. Then I played my daughter in Multiplayer, 2 players, each with their own remote. That moved soooo much faster than playing with shared remote.

So, to summarize, in single player, or multiplayer head-to-head mode, with individual remotes….VERY fun. Don’t even try to play multiplayer with shared remotes. You’ll fall asleep waiting your turn.

This is fun!
My husband and I invested in a WII several months ago to improve our health. We are using the WII sports every day which we love, and are both losing weight and feeling good, but were looking for a diversion- something more in the way of game and less of sport. We came across Arcade Games and after reading the reviews here on Amazon, we decided to invest in it. We love these carnival/arcade games! We are having a ball racking up tickets so that we can play the crane machine and the coin drop machine. There are a few that we don’t care for (toss the ball into the cup, toss the football into the tire, test your strength, nerves of steel) but we love the ski-ball game, the horserace game, water balloons, balloon darts, shooting range, knock the bottles down, ring toss, the frog game- to name a few. The younger generation might find these games boring but for us (50+) we find these games challenging and interesting and alot of fun. It’s like having the Jersey Shore Boardwalk in our living room. If you are looking for something to enjoy with your family, this is a great game night. It is time well spent together and well worth the money.

Fun for a little while and for groups
Carnival Games has more than 20 minigames, each of which are pretty fun. But, they get dull quickly. You figure out the motions and timing you need and thereafter it’s too easy to beat the games. The only benefit to this game once you have it down is that you can beat your friends! But, the control use is awkward; for most minigames, you have to take turns playing the game alone. My husband is very impatient, so one round of this game was too much waiting around for him to handle. I would suggest that you rent this game sometime when you have people over, but since it lacks replayability, I don’t suggest buying it.

Other notes: You can play with a lot of people, since you take turns. You only need the wiimote to play — no extra controllers needed.

Speed Racer The Videogame Review

Get behind the driver’s seat with this Speed Racer based on the Wachowski Brothers film with its garage of combat-ready rides and see how you fare in “car-fu style” action. Take on the role of the characters from the film, getting behind the wheels of each character’s signature vehicles to experience firsthand the film’s high adrenaline, combative racing style. The film itself is based on the classic series created by anime pioneer Tatsuo Yoshida. A live-action family adventure, Speed Racer follows the young racecar driver Speed in his quest for glory on and off the track in his thundering Mach 5. Choose between three different variations of the Mach 5, each one equipped with several gadgets that are unique to the car like grip tires, rotary saws, a periscope, a deflector, and auto jacks. All of the gadgets have a specific purpose. The rotary saws are used to cut down any trees that get in the way. By activating the auto jacks, the Mach 5 can jump over obstacles to discover shortcuts. Discovering the shortcuts is the key to getting the fastest times on all three tracks and mastering the Normal and Endurance modes. If you play the game well enough, you will be able to unlock new vehicles, including Racer X. Get behind the wheel and go, SPEED RACER, go!

This is the true film experience in your control. Race at top speeds and battle for the WRL cup as you take on your opponents

F-Hero

So… Speed Racer for the Wii… it’s actually great! I was skeptical when it only allowed for the sideways wiimote ’steering wheel’ style controls, but they actually work great! Your car slides around the tracks so much anyway, accurate driving is not as important as sheer speed.

A big part of the game is the ‘car-fu’ aspect… battling the other drivers physically with your car. You can do flips, back flips, jumps, 180 spins, 360 spins, side swipes, corkscrew jumps, etc. lots of moves, and they add up as combos as you’re hitting different vehicles. This is a lot of fun when you’re packed in tight during a close race. It’s almost disappointing when you’re doing well and end up ahead of the pack, as there is no one to fight!

Successful attacks will not only gain you a physical lead, but also give you a bit of boost. When your boost gauge is full, you can boost (duh), or you can swap some of the boost to repair your vehicle. Since you can only boost when the bar is full, using boosts and doing repairs becomes much more of a strategical aspect than in most driving games that feature nitro.

There are also ‘rivals’ and ‘alliances’. Certain racers who will hunt you down, or specifically help you out or leave you alone. If you attack neutral characters, they may become rivals, as well as if you hurt allies. You can choose to abandon alliances before the race, or offer to form an alliance as well.

The graphics are very pretty and have the same bright, saturated look the film does. The tracks have lots of loops, curves and jumps to keep them interesting. Think F-Zero, but more forgiving. You rarely need to lay into a curve to come out successfully, so you can just focus on speed and having fun. It’s still a challenge though, as the other racers have their own boosts and attacks.

There are loads of unlockable characters and tracks for added replay. I was surprised how differently each driver felt. They are rated by the typical ’speed’, ‘acceleration’, ‘handling’, etc. of most driving games, but they actually represent a real difference. This is similar to Mario Kart in that each driver really does feel unique.

Overall, an overlooked gem. The recent PS2 port is said to have even more tracks and characters, so it might be worth a wait, but the Wii controls really shine with this racer.

My 7-year old son likes Speed Racer
This review is by my 7-year old son who says Speed Racer is a winner:

“It is fun because there are different cars to choose from. You get 4 cars to start with and you can get somewhere around 14 more. The tracks are cool because you do a lot of loop-de-loops and jumps. I also like the smashdown move when you jump up and land on another car.”

Great Racing Game
We really liked this game, from my wife who doesn’t normally like racing games, to myself and my 7-year-old son who loves them. It’s not too hard, but never too easy. My son’s favorite track is Thunderhead, from the movie, because of the vibrant colors in the game. Our only complaint is we’d like a sequel to play more of the tracks from the film (Casa Cristo and the ice tunnels in particular are noticeably missing). Very recommended family game!

Great Arcade-Style Futuristic Racing Game; Fun For Everyone
Speed Racer was a great cartoon series, and a great movie, but as a long-time car racing video game fan, I hardly expected a great racing game. I was wrong. This thing puts all of my other Wii games on the back burner, completely. For me, it is tied with GT3 on the PS2, and Pole Position on the old Atari 5200, as my all-time favorites for their respective time periods.

Currently, I’ve tried Grid, Forza, Prologue, etc., and this is more fun, for me. If your thing is serious, realistic, NASCAR-style racing, this is not that. In fact, it’s the exact opposite. But it’s a blast, easy to get into, and challenging enough for most players.

It’s got the movie’s racing moves down, the spectacular CGI racing environments are nailed, the arcade-style racing dynamics work really well, and they even got the characters’ dialog right, adding a lot to the single-player mode. I don’t know if Nintendo has an exclusive with the Wachowskis, but if this game is properly adapted to a super-console, watch out!

I have noticed some racing games that are fun on other consoles are poorly ported to the Wii’s motion-sensitive wireless controllers. Hot Wheels Beat That!, for example, is great on the xBox 360 but sucks on the Wii for that reason. I use Nintendo’s $10 steering wheel with the controler, and it works great on this game.

Great game for kids
My 4 year old son has had this game for about 3 weeks now, and absolutely loves it. The controls are very intuitive and he was hitting home runs in no time (I actually had to turn the difficulty up for him!) Also, in my opinion, Activision did not “dumb down” this game for kids—there’s lots of nice little touches for adults (in-jokes, beautiful background scenery, etc.). The pitching and fielding is almost certainly too simplistic for a “seasoned” gamer, but again, for kids between the ages of 4 and, I’d say, 13, this game is perfect. Lots of mini-games on here (which are quite fun) and if it’s too easy you can certainly turn the difficulty up. Very satisfied with this one.
